TOYOTA GAZOO Racing executes strategic comeback at the 6 Hours of Spa

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing scores valuable points ahead of Le Mans
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing delivered a strong team performance at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, round three of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship, thanks to a bold, well-executed strategy and a perfectly managed final stint by Sébastien Buemi.
Starting from the back of the grid after a challenging qualifying session, the #8 GR010 HYBRID climbed steadily through the field to finish fourth, just a few seconds away from a podium finish.
The opening phase of the race saw intense battles in the dense Hypercar field, where every position had to be fought for under braking. After consistent stints from Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa, Buemi took the wheel for the final two hours. The team opted for an alternative fuel strategy to avoid traffic and give Buemi clear air to push.
That strategic gamble paid off. With a series of fast, mistake-free laps, the Swiss driver briefly led the race before making his final stop. Rejoining in a strong position, he continued his charge, overtaking several rivals to secure a fourth place that brings valuable championship points.
“I’m happy with this result considering the circumstances. The whole team executed the race perfectly, with no mistakes and a smart strategy. Of course, we wanted to fight higher up, but I think we extracted the maximum from what we had today.” – Sébastien Buemi
This result confirms the #8 car’s consistency and keeps the crew firmly in contention in the overall standings as the team now turns its focus to the biggest race of the season: the 24 Hours of Le Mans, on 14–15 June.
