Sébastien Buemi started from sixteenth position after a complicated qualifying session. He qualified ninth in Group A, five tenths off the best time, which prevented him from taking part in the final duels. Sébastien was able to bounce back and manage his race well to take home some important points.

For this twelfth meeting of the 2022/2023 season, the GEN3 Formula E cars left the urban tracks for their first time at Portland International Raceway in Oregon. This fast, technical circuit offered us a race full of twists and turns.

In a hectic race that was interrupted by several safety cars, Sébastien Buemi managed to stay clear of the race incidents and clawed his way up to fourth place. He finally finished the race in fifth position, his best result since the Berlin E-Prix in April. Sébastien moved up to eighth place in the overall drivers' standings.

Sébastien Buemi's team-mate, Nick Cassidy, won the race in Portland. This great performance by the Envision Racing drivers sees the team move to within six points of championship leader TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team with four races remaining in the ABB Formula E championship.

"It was a pretty incredible race starting from sixteenth position. I think I could have done a bit better, we had a little problem with the battery regeneration at the end of the race, which probably cost me fourth place. Overall, we had a great strategy with the team and I took the attack mode at the right time. So I'm very happy with the result and with scoring points. This new track, which is very different from conventional Formula E tracks, was interesting and the crowd was amazing. Well done to Nick for winning the race again, he's having an incredible season. I'm going to work harder to be able to fight for victory in Rome too. The team scored big points for the championship this weekend and I'm already looking forward to the next race." Sébastien Buemi

The ABB Formula E World Championship returns to Europe for its final two double headers in Rome on July 14 and London on July 28 for the finale round of the 2022/2023 season.
