In a grueling season opener at the Qatar 1812 KM, the #8 GR010 HYBRID, under the helm of Sébastien Buemi, showcased a commendable performance, earning valuable FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) points through sheer determination.

Facing formidable competition in a field of 19 Hypercars, including renowned brands like Alpine, BMW, and Porsche, the team encountered challenges from the start. Sébastien, along with co-drivers Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa, fought hard after a tough beginning, securing a respectable 9th place finish.

The race commenced under scorching midday sun, witnessing intense competition right from the onset. Sébastien, starting from 11th on the grid, navigated through the crowded field, initially facing difficulties but steadily gaining ground.

Despite encountering setbacks during the race, including issues with the rear left wheel during a pit stop, the team persevered. Sébastien's strategic prowess and driving expertise were evident as he maneuvered through traffic and adverse conditions, ensuring a solid performance for car #8.

“It was a difficult race for us, but we still salvaged three points. We didn’t have the performance so we just did the best we could and brought both cars to the chequered flag. Even when we cannot win, at least we still try to score points. It has been a tough week, but we will work hard and come back stronger for Imola, which is a new track for WEC. We have never been there, but I am sure it will suit our car better than here and we obviously expect to have a better result.” Sébastien Buemi

Looking ahead to the next round at the 6 Hours of Imola in Italy on April 21, Sébastien and the team are optimistic about their prospects on a new track. With their determination and experience, they aim to achieve a stronger result and further bolster their position in the championship standings.
