Podium and Strategic Comeback for Buemi in Jeddah Double Header
Sébastien Buemi and Envision Racing experienced an intense weekend in Jeddah for the first double header of Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. After a strategically strong points finish in the opening race, the Swiss driver delivered a superb podium the following day under the lights of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
Race 1: Smart management and valuable points
Despite showing very encouraging pace during Free Practice, qualifying for the first race did not reflect the true potential of the car. A lack of grip on new tyres prevented Buemi from progressing to the duels, leaving him 18th on the grid.
In the race, the team responded perfectly. In this first event of the season featuring Pit Boost, Buemi made the most of a well executed strategy, combining careful energy management with optimal use of the additional energy gained during his stop. By saving his single Attack Mode activation for the closing stages, he was able to steadily climb through the field and cross the line in seventh position, securing another strong and valuable recovery drive for the championship.
Race 2: A podium that rewards perseverance
The following day, Buemi confirmed the competitiveness he has shown over recent rounds. More comfortable in qualifying, he progressed to the duels and started from seventh on the grid. In a highly competitive race marked by constant position changes at the front, the Swiss driver quickly established himself among the leading group.
Managing his energy and Attack Mode activations perfectly, Buemi chose the right timing in the final stages of the race. His two late activations allowed him to move back into the top three before making a decisive move to claim second place with only a few laps remaining. Calm under pressure, he held the position to the chequered flag and secured Envision Racing’s first podium of Season 12.
A turning point ahead of Madrid
With a seventh place finish followed by a podium in Saudi Arabia, Sébastien Buemi confirms Envision Racing’s upward trajectory. After several races where strong pace had not been fully rewarded, Jeddah represents a positive turning point and validates the progress made in overall package performance.
