Buemi claims a podium and ends the year on a high note

The final weekend of Season 11 in Formula E brought mixed emotions for Envision Racing. After a first race marked by a penalty that cost Sébastien Buemi a points finish, the Swiss driver responded brilliantly on Sunday with a spectacular charge to the podium — ending the season on a very positive note.
Saturday: A frustrating race despite a well-executed strategy
After a difficult qualifying session (P18 for Buemi, P19 for Frijns), both Envision drivers opted for an energy-saving strategy to climb through the field. The gamble nearly paid off: Robin Frijns finished in 8th place, while Buemi, initially crossing the line in 10th after several sharp overtakes in the closing laps, was dropped to 16th following a 5-second penalty for a Safety Car infringement. A disappointing outcome despite an encouraging team performance in a highly competitive race.
Sunday: Buemi turns things around with a podium finish
Starting from 19th on the grid and serving a 5-place penalty, the Swiss driver delivered a remarkable race, combining strategic mastery with decisive overtakes. With perfectly timed Attack Mode activations and capitalizing on rivals’ errors, Buemi climbed to 4th before being promoted to 3rd after a time penalty for Mitch Evans. A well-earned podium that rewarded the team’s persistent efforts throughout the season.
Team-mate Frijns, who started well from P12, spent much of the race in the top 10 before slipping to 13th at the finish due to energy limitations.
Final standings: An encouraging end to the season for Envision Racing
With this result, Sébastien Buemi ends the 2024–2025 season 12th in the Drivers’ Championship with 84 points. Envision Racing finishes 8th in the Teams’ standings with 107 points. A podium to close the season – a symbol of the team’s resilience in a year of ups and downs. Eyes now turn to Season 12 for new challenges.
