Buemi Battles Through Drama-Filled – Miami E-Prix

The inaugural Homestead E-Prix proved to be a dramatic affair for Envision Racing, with Sébastien Buemi showcasing strong pace and racecraft despite a frustrating end result after an incident-packed race.
The 26-lap encounter at the Homestead-Miami Speedway featured two Safety Cars and a Red Flag, which significantly disrupted the rhythm of the race. For Buemi, the timing couldn’t have been worse—activating Attack Mode just as the Safety Car was deployed, ultimately neutralising his strategic move.
Buemi started from P12 on the grid after a competitive qualifying session in Group A. The Swiss driver looked quick from the outset, delivering a strong first push lap to place P4 early in the session. While his final flying lap featured the fastest third sector overall, small errors in the opening sectors meant he narrowly missed out on progressing to the duels, ending P6 in the group.
When the lights went out for the race, Buemi maintained a measured and intelligent approach in the early laps, conserving energy and positioning himself within the top five. By Lap 9, he activated his first Attack Mode, launching a charge that saw him rise from P7 to an impressive P2.
Unfortunately, the momentum was short-lived. A Safety Car on Lap 17, followed by a Red Flag, came just after Buemi had taken his second Attack Mode, severely limiting its impact. Upon the race restart, he found himself at a disadvantage as other drivers still had Attack Mode power available, while Buemi had already used his.
Despite the setbacks, Buemi fought hard to stay in contention, eventually crossing the line in P16. Post-race penalties applied to several drivers elevated him to a final classification of P13—just outside the points, but with plenty of positives to take forward.
Meanwhile, teammate Robin Frijns initially secured a podium finish in P3, but was handed a 10-second penalty for not completing all Attack Mode activations before the race concluded—dropping him to P8.
Though the final results didn’t reflect the potential shown, the Homestead E-Prix marked a step forward in pace and performance for Envision Racing. Buemi’s race craft and strong pace throughout the weekend demonstrate that he remains a serious contender as the championship battle continues.
